WELCOME TO OVERTON WHISTLES®

This site is the home for OVERTON WHISTLES. Here you can find information about the Overton whistles, their history, their builders and also how and where to order these fine quality whistles.

Hopefully this site will grow and be interesting and will cover all kinds of subjects related to the whistles and the music and people behind them.

After many requests we have set-up a myspace-page and welcome you to visit us and the friends of Overton Whistles. You will find a reference list of players and bands who play our instruments and if you visit their pages you are most likely to hear Overtons being played.

Above you see a full set of Overton Whistles. If you want to see them bigger please double-click on the image or click here for a XXL-version.

OVERTON WHISTLES®

are called by the name of their developer Bernard Overton. The Overton whistles were designed in the late 60s and in that time have become a most sought after item for the whistle player. The Overtons offer a range of whistles from high F (Soprano) all the way down to Low G (Bass Baritone) including all flats and sharps. All whistles are made of an aluminium alloy. Each whistle is hand made so no two are identical and you can be sure to have your own unique instrument although they all have the unmistakable OVERTON sound. All instruments carry a lifetime guarantee and are supplied with a bag and certificate of authenticity.

Information about the available key range,  prices, how and where to order you can find in the  pricelist-page . If you want to have a complete overview on the products I offer here, please go into the Products-Page .

On their own pages I will introduce the whistle builders Bernard Overton and  Colin Goldie  to you and you can find information about them and their work.

We would like to make it a little bit easier for you to find information about other related  websites to the Irish Whistles  and to general  Irish-Celtic-websites . So if you click on the mentioned links you will get into listings of webpages we found and collected while surfing through the World Wide Web. We also started to open our own  Overton Gallery  which you are invited to go in and have a look. This shows pictures of Overton Whistles, Bernard Overton and Colin Goldie and more. As we were asked a lot about CDs with Overton Whistles played on, we started to set up a CD Reference List  where you can find musicians playing Overtons and which projects they were used in. We are just contacting musicians for permission if you would like to be on this list we would be happy to add you and your projects to it.

Also you can have a look into our Photos where we have pictures made at gigs we visited and other events.

We also have a  Guestbook  and would be happy if you like to leave your comments.

Next "to do thing" on our agenda is to add a sound samples page where you can listen to the different whistle keys.

Hopefully you will enjoy browsing through our pages and that the  listed links to all kinds of subjects  will bring new information to you.

Please send your questions, comments, tips and information to me and please have a look into my own little homepage  if you want to find out more about me.

Last but not least I really want to thank Michael for his initial help in realising the idea of having a website and his patient support in sorting out my errors and maintaining the site on the provider side. Pandora, Eule and Steffi for x-reading and correcting my first drafts and ideas for the pages. Steffi especially for the designing of our logo. Nick for his re-design suggestions and Dale Wisely who with his amazing  CHIFF&FIPPLE website  is a great source and inspiration. And a big thanks to Patrik for sending us some great pictures of his full "Overton-Set".
